These were the three key takeaways from the Ciphix event <em data-start=\"569\" data-end=\"606\">&#8220;Taking Low-Code to the Next Level&#8221;<\/em>, held on 13 June in Culemborg.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"689\"><strong data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"687\">The power of a growth-oriented culture<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"691\" data-end=\"897\">To discuss the importance of team culture in driving success, Ciphix invited Brian Farley, the legendary baseball coach who led the Dutch national team to an unexpected World Championship victory in 2011.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"899\" data-end=\"1039\">Brian highlighted three essential principles for creating a winning team\u2014principles that also apply to IT teams driving low-code adoption:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1041\" data-end=\"1535\">\n<li data-start=\"1041\" data-end=\"1227\"><strong data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1068\">Authentic Leadership<\/strong> \u2013 True leaders focus on helping their team grow. Their mindset directly influences the team\u2019s atmosphere. A positive leader fosters a positive team culture.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1411\"><strong data-start=\"1231\" data-end=\"1255\">Being Your True Self<\/strong> \u2013 Team members perform better when they feel safe to be themselves. A leader who encourages authenticity creates an environment where people feel valued.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1535\"><strong data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1435\">Active Listening<\/strong> \u2013 Real teamwork starts with listening to one another. This builds trust and drives collaboration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1720\">According to Brian, only in a <em data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"1583\">growth culture<\/em> can teams fully unlock their potential. In a <em data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1643\">fear culture<\/em>, employees focus on avoiding mistakes rather than striving for excellence.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1759\"><strong data-start=\"1726\" data-end=\"1757\">Reaching the \u2018Stretch Zone\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1761\" data-end=\"2082\">Brian also introduced the concept of the <em data-start=\"1802\" data-end=\"1816\">stretch zone<\/em>. This is the space just beyond a team\u2019s current skill set\u2014challenging yet achievable. Setting goals too high leads to the <em data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"1951\">panic zone<\/em>, where people feel success is impossible. But in the <em data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2019\">stretch zone<\/em>, progress leads to fulfilment, happiness, and team cohesion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2084\" data-end=\"2265\">His closing message? <em data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2127\">Start with yourself.<\/em> Ask yourself daily: <em data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2191\">What impact do I want to have on my team?<\/em> When every team member does this, the result is a high-performing team.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2267\" data-end=\"2311\"><strong data-start=\"2271\" data-end=\"2309\">A Clear Low-Code Vision is Crucial<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2313\" data-end=\"2507\">Beyond a strong team, a <em data-start=\"2337\" data-end=\"2351\">clear vision<\/em> is essential for scaling low-code. Arjo van Oosten, VP of Digital Transformation at Mendix and founder of the Mendix <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mendix.com\/digital-execution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">digital transformation framework<\/a>, explained how organisations mature in their low-code journey:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2509\" data-end=\"2784\">\n<li data-start=\"2509\" data-end=\"2578\"><strong data-start=\"2511\" data-end=\"2528\">Project-level<\/strong>: Low-code is tested on small-scale initiatives.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2579\" data-end=\"2671\"><strong data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2600\">Programme-level<\/strong>: The organisation sees value in low-code but lacks a clear strategy.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2784\"><strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2693\">Strategic-level<\/strong>: Low-code is embedded in the company\u2019s strategy, driving innovation and competitiveness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2786\" data-end=\"2963\">A well-defined low-code vision provides <strong data-start=\"2826\" data-end=\"2864\">focus, connection, and inspiration<\/strong>. It helps teams prioritise projects, align efforts, and continuously identify new opportunities.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2965\" data-end=\"3007\"><strong data-start=\"2969\" data-end=\"3005\">The Five P\u2019s of Low-Code Success<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3009\" data-end=\"3280\">To successfully implement low-code, Mendix outlines four key pillars (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mendix.com\/blog\/how-to-implement-bimodal-it-focus-on-the-4-ps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4 P&#8217;s<\/a>): <strong data-start=\"3079\" data-end=\"3123\">People, Process, Portfolio, and Platform<\/strong>. A <em data-start=\"3127\" data-end=\"3136\">fifth P<\/em> has now been added: <strong data-start=\"3157\" data-end=\"3170\">Promotion<\/strong>. CIOs must actively promote early successes, documenting value to encourage wider adoption and integration.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3282\" data-end=\"3318\"><strong data-start=\"3286\" data-end=\"3316\">Scaling Low-Code at Mourik<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3320\" data-end=\"3472\">Stef Koomans (Low-Code Programme Manager) and Jaap van der Welle (CIO) from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mourik.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mourik<\/a> shared their experience scaling low-code within their organisation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3474\" data-end=\"3494\">Their key lessons:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3495\" data-end=\"3690\">\n<li data-start=\"3495\" data-end=\"3556\">Start small but impactful\u2014early success creates momentum.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3557\" data-end=\"3627\">Engage key internal stakeholders from the start to boost adoption.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3628\" data-end=\"3690\">Measure baseline performance to clearly demonstrate value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3692\" data-end=\"3883\">Their ultimate goal? <strong data-start=\"3713\" data-end=\"3765\">Generating revenue through low-code applications<\/strong>. To achieve this, they now focus on app portfolio management, infrastructure, and recruiting additional developers.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3885\" data-end=\"3918\"><strong data-start=\"3889\" data-end=\"3916\">Growth Requires Courage<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3920\" data-end=\"4084\">The event concluded with a Q&amp;A session where speakers emphasised the importance of stepping outside one\u2019s comfort zone.
